Current Activities Sister Cities The Southwest German Society and the Fountain Hills Sister City Committee along with the Town of Fountain Hills are working on developing a relationship with the town leadership in Dierdorf, Germany. Mayor Rosemarie Schneider and her delegation arrive in Phoenix on April 6th and will visit until April 16th. Plans are underway to sign a proclamation for a Sister City Relationship. Sister City Committee members and the Southwest German Society will host the Dierdorf Delegation. A great itinerary is planned in Fountain Hills and around the valley, including a reception on April 8th, 2004 at the Fountain Hills Community Center. The former Fountain Hills German teacher, Jennifer Horen, established a student exchange program with schools in Dierdorf several years ago. Based on several exchange visits and the great experiences of the students, Dierdorf seemed the ideal partner for Fountain Hills. Dierdorf is located 1½ hours driving time NW from Frankfurt am Main. Dierdorf is also close (2½ hours) to Kasterlee, Belgium, which is Fountain Hills’ first Sister City. Updated April 2, 2004 |
